What the Heck is Manifesting?

Lately, this word has been everywhere… So I got curious. In all honesty, I was not sure what it really was, but after some digging, I realized ohhhh this is good.

Mel Robbins has an awesome video on Manifesting for beginners. So that is where I started. Her definition is that manifesting is preparing your mind, body, and spirit to help you take action to get what you want. okaaaay… but this sound exactly like wishing, dreaming, and hoping… so what's the difference?

Why Manifesting is
not wishing.

Wishing puts the focus on the fact that you are lacking something and the responsibility on others to achieve the things you want. It is like expecting a fairy godmother to come to help us and grant us wishes. When in fact it is up to YOU to put in the work and take action.

So, how is manifesting different?

Our brains can't distinguish what is real from what is vividly recreated in our minds. So, when we vividly manifest the things we want by visualization, declaring, journaling, mantras, etc, we are tricking our minds into believing we have done this before. All self-doubt, impostor syndrome, limiting beliefs, and fear of failure go away the next time we see an opportunity to act on our goals…because we have done it before! Make sense right? It is not magic. IT’S PSYCHOLOGY!

It is not just wishing away. It is preparing our minds and spirit to be ready so that when the opportunity comes, we can TAKE THE LEAP.

Thoughts drive behavior and behavior is the one to get results, so the more we think, the more we act, and the more likely we will achieve. It's simple and rational.

BUTTTT, the thing is… It’s not that simple.

Even though manifestation practices work. It is possible we are not doing them right. The way we think is important in making sure we are doing it effectively.

HOW TO DO IT RIGHT?

DO IT ON PURPOSE

Mindless daydreaming is not effective, it feels good, but it won’t necessarily motivate you to act. So being aware you are doing this with a greater goal in mind is key.

STAY CONSISTENT

It is not enough to manifest a few times. That doesn't keep you focused and motivated. You have to keep your dream alive by often manifesting it. By reminding ourselves of the end goal daily, we are more likely to work daily on it.

HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

You can start your manifestation practice by thinking about how bad things are going for you. It sends contradictory messages to your brain, making your manifestation efforts less effective. You have to start from a place of gratitude, abundance, and feeling good about where you are.

ACT ON IT

You can just think think think and not behave. Manifesting is like getting ready, but eventually, we all have to act. We all have to take the leap, the first step and do the work.

BE REALISTIC

Big goals require lots of time. Set yourself smaller goals so you can prove yourself manifesting works. Little by little those tiny goals will get you closer to that big goal.

Manifestation Methods

VISION BOARDS

Vision boards are collages of images and words that represent your goals and dreams. They help you visualize what you want and put it out into the universe. You can create a physical board or an online one. Spend some time gathering images and words that speak to you and that represent what you want to manifest in your life. Once you have your vision board, you can use it to remind yourself of your goals and dreams and to help you stay focused on manifesting them.

SCRIPTING

Scripting is a powerful manifestation technique that involves writing out in detail what you want to create in your life. You can do this in the form of a story or a screenplay, and the more detail you use, the better. The idea is to write the story as if it has already happened, helping you to visualize and focus on what you want to create.

VISUALIZATION

Visualization is another popular manifestation technique. It involves using your imagination to create a vivid mental image of what you want to create in your life. To do this, first, find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed, and then sit in a relaxed position. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, and then imagine yourself in a place and situation where your goal has already been achieved. Focus on the details of this place and what it feels like to have already achieved your goal. When you are done, open your eyes and take a few more deep breaths. Repeat this exercise as often as you need to, and the more you practice, the better you will get at it.

AFFIRMATIONS

Affirmations are one of the easiest ways to get started with your manifestation journey. Repeating affirmations throughout your day that are related to your intention and your vision can help you stay on track and trust the process. When creating your affirmations, make sure they are positive, in the present tense, and that they are specific to what you are trying to manifest. For example, instead of saying "I will make more money," say "I am now making enough money to support my lifestyle."

Start by writing down your affirmations and keep them somewhere that you can access easily. Every morning, take a few moments to say your affirmations out loud. This will help you start your day with a positive attitude and remind you of what you are working towards.

MEDITATION

Meditation is a relaxing, mindfulness practice that decreases stress, helps you relax, and allows you to reach higher vibrations (positive mind) by getting rid of negative thoughts (low vibrations). It is often confused with visualization. But meditation is a restful state, not an active one. It helps you by giving you the rest you need in an unconscious way. Pairing meditation with visualization is a great way to manifest and start evoking from a place of gratitude, happiness, and positive vibes.

Of course, this is a tiny piece of information, but I hope it clarifies what's out there and helps you better understand how your mindset can unlock tools to help you achieve your dreams.

Next time you find yourself wishing away, try manifesting instead.

Set an intention. Be clear about what you want and why you want it. Visualize yourself achieving your goal, and create a plan of action. Take the necessary steps to make it happen and be open to receiving any help or support that comes your way.

Believe in yourself and trust the process.
And, most importantly, don't give up.

With a clear intention, focused effort, and unwavering belief, you can manifest any dreams and make them a reality.
